I was reading an article from an expert in the video marketing field (link below) and a few things stood out to me. There were 6 points to the article, which was about why you must be doing video.
I am going to address these with my own spin.
1. Community is key.
My friend Saul Klein always tells me that it’s all about community. He was talking about online communities in the 90’s, and he is right. As an admin for a Facebook group with over 130,000 real estate professionals, I have seen the power of community many times over. When people are part of your community, you capture their attention. Attention is the currency of social media. Maybe learning how to build a group on social media should be the first step.
2. Video is not a one-and-done strategy.
You may make a monthly masterpiece that takes hours to film and edit, and doing a short, reel, or TikTok might not be your thing. That is 100% fine, and it is fine in reverse, too. But no matter which way you decide to go, it is not about doing one video. Consistency is key. I do like to suggest a variety, but at the end of the day, I do what I do because I get the response I desire and I like doing them. Learn the power of consistency with video
3. Live video and real-time shopping are on the rise in 2021.
Live video is powerful. Period. The reason is that the algorithms consider it time-sensitive and it takes precedence over any other content being posted. The algorithm wants as many people to be on the live as it can reach. You will see it first or be notified when your friends are live. Learn how to do live video on social media, and do a live once in a while.
4. Telling your story with video helps humanize your brand.
This is true in marketing as it is in video. People love stories and stories are easy to follow and connect with. It gives you an opportunity to show your human side vs just a business side. Become relatable and you will convert more followers to your community. Learn how to tell a story on video and you will have the attention of many.
5. Simple gets traction.
If you have been watching the last two years, everything has been getting shorter and faster. Look at TikTok, reels, stories, and shorts. Faster, shorter, swipe, swipe, swipe. This is what the platforms are pushing because their analytics show the trends. So keep it short, interesting, and engaging. However, there is always a place and audience to produce longer videos. The Explore My Town videos are 3-5 minutes, sometimes 7 minutes, depending on the topic. In editing, we keep them moving with clip changes, jump cuts, b-roll, and transitions.
6. Organic video content fosters genuine connection with your customer.
Organic views are the best and most powerful. They show the strength of your community. When you have your followers seeing the video first, liking it, commenting, and sharing, the algorithm gives it favor because it is receiving engagement. Learning how to get engagement with video is vital. You will learn over time what works best for you.
In the end, all of us who are a video-centric company agree on the main points of doing video. However people still have fear or lack some knowledge about how to accomplish it. Explore My Town takes most of the heavy lifting off for you, and helps you gain the knowledge needed. We step through fear together.
