Facebook is Testing Drastic Changes to Instagram

I have been screaming this from the rooftop for over a year. I wonder if anyone has been listening? Probably not. They are too busy making TikToks and chasing buyers around in this crazy real estate market. At the time of this writing, it is July 9, 2021, and the article I will reference came out on June 30, 2021 by CNBC. Their headline was:

Facebook is testing drastic changes to Instagram to make it more like TikTok

Wait, what…?

Yeah, you heard it right. Facebook and IG will be going video first. There is a Facebook executive in a previous Wyzowl survey from 2019 who stated that they expect Facebook to be primarily video by 2021.

Opa, it’s 2021.

If you have been remotely awake, then you have been watching Facebook position their business pages to be video-centric. The creator tools, the analytics and the overall feel is all about video.

Now this article is talking about making IG more like TikTok. Seems what they are saying is coming to fruition. So what does this mean?

It means video is the most consumed content on social media. If you are not doing it, then you should start!

As we progress through the decade, things are moving faster than a decade ago. Some of the tools we have access to now weren’t easily available then, or did not even exist. However, anyone can create videos now, and good video, at that.

There are so many apps that allow you to make things from short pieces, with cool graphics. There are editors on your mobile device, which allow you to edit multiple clips, add music and graphics etc. So there really is no excuse.

Our Explore My Town Charleston partner makes amazing videos, which have generated tens of millions of opportunities. He uses two droid phones to make his masterpieces. Nothing fancy, just two phones, wireless mics, and a tripod.

If he can do it, so can you. He has a free video coaching group you should check out

Now, about this whole thing. I am not a fan of 95% of TikTok. But when used correctly, it can generate views and business. I have witnessed it. It shows us one thing: people want video. Truthfully, it does not matter what I think, because Facebook sees the big picture.

TikTok made such an impact that YouTube and IG both came out with shorter versions to compete, and now IG is moving more in that direction.

So when will Facebook jump all in? Like I said previously, if you are watching, you’ll see that they have already prepared the pool for a massive cannonball.

Are you ready?

Will you be left behind?

I built Explore My Town to help professionals with all the heavy lifting of video. We help people step through fear. We script and edit the videos, and market them to get maximum exposure.

Be part of the movement, or be left behind. Seriously!

Start to do some form of video. And understand this: video on social media is only one place to use video.

You can make videos for buyers or sellers about each step of the process.
