How to Stand Out on Social Media

How many times have you been moved to action from seeing a shopping cart ad? How about a pen with marketing information? Coffee sleeves? Receipt ads? Did you say “none,” like I did?

How many times have you watched a video online and been moved to action? You saw the business owner, and watched them talk about their product, and BOOM. You’re sold. The healthy smoothies I get delivered to my doorstep every month speak for themselves.

Video marketing works.

Physical marketing, like shopping carts, magazines, billboards, only get seen by people who happen upon them. Who is driving down the street your billboard is on? And even if they drive past it, are they looking in that direction, or are they zoned out like a zombie on their way to work? With the kind of money you’re spending, you can’t be sure that your target audience is even seeing you.

Digital marketing with videos is a totally different ballgame. Because of the magic of algorithms, the people who are in the market to need your services will be targeted with your videos, if marketing is done correctly. So no one has to stumble on them. Rather, the videos find them.

Videos are like a digital billboard on your own personal highway, which is packed full of people who want to be there, and they’re a captive audience. When they get shared, it's like putting a digital billboard on someone else's highway, too.

When our videos get shared 30, 40, 50, 100 times, imagine having that amount of billboards throughout your community that are continually being seen. Do you think that will get some attention?

Video helps put a face to a brand. When clients see your face and get to know you and trust you, they are far more likely to want to work with you when the time comes that they need your help. Even better, if you can niche down and share parts of yourself that others might relate to, that will draw people who relate to you in even more.

Supporting local businesses is one great way to show people that you are amazing to work with. It demonstrates that you are part of the community, and are dedicated to helping local businesses thrive. It is also a way for you to get to know business owners in your area, and their employees. If you position yourself as a community expert and supporter, locals will respond to that.

Gary Vaynerchuk himself says, "Attention is the single biggest asset.” So don't listen to me, listen to the number one influencer out there for social media. Get your audience’s attention! And do it with video.

Most people don’t make videos because they have no idea where to start, or how to market them. Creating video ideas and editing footage can become a full-time job, too. Explore My Town takes all of that off of your shoulders, so all you have to do is point your phone and record. We take care of the rest.
